Most cleaning kits include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A soft cloth.<\/li><li>A hearing aid cleaning brush.<\/li><li>A battery removal tool.<\/li><li>A wax pick\/wire loop.<\/li><li>A multi-tool.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-clean-a-behind-the-ear-bte-hearing-aid\">How to Clean a Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Hearing Aid<\/h2>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/medical-devices\/hearing-aids\/types-hearing-aids#2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BTE hearing aids<\/a> consist of an earmold that connects to the main casing of the hearing aid via thin tubing. Follow these steps to clean your BTE device:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Clear debris from the casing of the hearing aid using a soft cloth or cleaning brush.<\/li><li>Remove the earmold from the hook. Each day, wipe it clean with the cloth or brush. Once a week, wash it in warm, soapy water. Make sure it\u2019s completely dry before reattaching it.<\/li><li>Use a bulb blower to force moisture and wax out of the tubing.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-clean-an-in-the-ear-ite-hearing-aid\">How to Clean an In-the-Ear (ITE) Hearing Aid<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>ITE hearing aids rest completely in the ear, and all their components are housed in the shell. Follow these steps to clean your ITE device:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use the cleaning brush to remove debris from the shell.<\/li><li>Use the wax pick\/wire loop to clean wax from the microphone ports. Be sure to hold the device upside down so debris falls out instead of further in.<\/li><li>Give the device another pass with the soft cloth.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"other-care-tips\">Other Care Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Here we\u2019ve compiled some other tips to help you care for your devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure you wash your hands before handling your devices.<\/li><li>Take out your hearing aids before showering or bathing.<\/li><li>Leave them out if you\u2019re applying hair spray, sunscreen, perfume or other sprays.<\/li><li>Clean your devices at the end of the day so they have time to dry out overnight.<\/li><li>Avoid extreme temperatures.
